The closing concert “Nomade” of the Sebastian Fagerlund Festival of the Uuden Ajan Ensemble will be held at Temppeliaukiokirkko on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 7 p.m.
Program: Drifts, Nomade, Water Atlas
This concert focuses on Fagerlund’s newer productions for a larger orchestra. The cello concerto Nomade (2018), the title track of the concert, will be performed by Jonathan Roozeman, a cellist with a strong international career and the first Finnish cellist to perform the composition. The orchestral works in the concert belong to the same family, the Fagerlund Orchestral Triptych. It consists of three independent parts, two of which will be heard in this concert. The opening work of the concert, Drifts (2017), is the second, slowest part of Fagerlund’s orchestral triptych. The concert ends with the final part of the triptych, the energetic and painterly work Water Atlas (2018).
The concert will be conducted by Tapio von Boehm, Artistic Director of the Uuden Ajan Ensemble.
