In the concert entitled 'Säveltäjien vihjeitä Suomesta ja USA:sta' (Composer's Hints from Finland and the USA), Lucy will perform works from her doctoral research as part of the D-vitamin concert series.

Tohtoriohjelmassaan Lucy Abrams keskittyy klarinettimusiikkiin, joka on sävelletty Suomessa ja Yhdysvalloissa vuoden 1980 jälkeen. Elossa olevien säveltäjien musiikin esittäminen avaa hänelle mahdollisuuden kokea (tuore) musiikki elävänä taidemuotona, silloin kun se on säveltäjien kanssa tapahtuvan vuorovaikutuksen tulos/heijastumaa. Jatko-opintojensa tutkimuksellisessa osuudessa Lucy Abrams analysoi ja vertaa modernin musiikin asemaa Suomessa ja Yhdysvalloissa, esittäjien ja säveltäjien näkökulmista. Tässä konsertissa kuullaan suomalaisten ja amerikkalaisten säveltäjien tuoreita teoksia. Konsertin yhteydessä taiteilijat kertovat, millaisia ohjeita ja vihjeitä he ovat saaneet teosten esittämiseen suoraan säveltäjiltä."

In her doctoral program Lucy Abrams is focusing on clarinet music composed in Finland and in USA after 1980. Performances of works by living composers open her an opportunity to experience (fresh) music as an art form, as it is a result/reflection of a dialogue with the composer. In the research part of her studies Lucy Abrams will analyze and compare the status of contemporary music in Finland and in the US, from perspectives of performers and composers. In this concert will fresh compositions by Finnish and US composers be heard. During the concert artists will talk about the instructions and hints they have received directly from the composers.
